Flytoget is upgrading Type 71

The project includes the procurement and installation of ERTMS equipment in the Type 71 fleet.

Flytoget trains operate on the "Oslo corridor," which has been scheduled for the final phase of the national signal plan. According to the plan, the implementation of ERTMS on the Oslo corridor is expected to be completed between 2032 and 2034.

ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) is a standardized signaling system for railways across Europe, intended to replace national signaling systems. In Norway, Siemens provides the interlocking systems, Alstom is responsible for the train retrofitting, and Thales is delivering the new traffic management system.

Rytec has contributed both a project manager and a technical project manager during the initial phase.

The project manager's responsibilities have included managing correspondence, providing contractual advisory services, overseeing the compensation arrangement with Bane NOR (including preparing documentation for invoicing), managing the budgeting and financial tracking of the project, contributing to reporting for Flytoget's steering committee, and offering general technical advice with a specific focus on ERTMS/STM.

The technical project manager has been responsible for verifying technical specifications, overseeing documentation, and conducting electronic review meetings between Flytoget and Alstom.
